Clan Hunter Genealogy

Building a unique archive of our Hunter ancestors.

Our Resources & Groups

The Hunter genealogy community is supported by several dedicated resources and groups, each managed by a network of passionate volunteers. Together, they support family history research, community collaboration, DNA analysis, and the long-term preservation of Hunter ancestry.

Together, these resources form a collaborative genealogy ecosystem—combining family history research, community engagement, DNA matching, surname DNA studies, and the long-term preservation of Hunter ancestry.

Whether you're just beginning your family history journey or have been researching for years, each resource plays an important role in documenting, preserving, and connecting Hunter family history for current and future generations.

Hunter GEDmatch Ancestor Project and Geneaology Group

Focused on DNA matching and genetic genealogy, helping members identify relatives and confirm family connections. The Hunter GEDmatch Ancestor Project enables Hunters who have tested with different DNA companies to compare results and identify matches within approximately 1–6 generations.

This resource works hand-in-hand with the Hunter GEDmatch and Genealogy Facebook Group, where members collaborate, share findings, and receive assistance interpreting DNA matches.

If you have tested your DNA through any of the testing sites (Ancestry, MyHeritage, 23andMe, etc.) you can download your raw DNA data and upload it to GEDmatch. Once you have your kit number, and have joined the "Hunter Gedmatch and Genealogy Group" found under Ancestor Projects, you can share your project matches on our Facebook page. You'll find the group is friendly and helpful.

To join this Ancestor Project, please follow these steps:
